In the first 12 verses of Paul's letter we can learn volumes about how hope bubbles in the pressure cooker. Scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 4. I listened as the man voiced a common concern: "Everyone is worried about the economy this year.
My hairline is in recession; my waistline is in inflation; and altogether I am in depression! Normally people face the stress of life and just keep plowing through, day after day.
Occasionally the pressure gets to them and they crack, crumble, and crash. They're left hurting and hopeless. For many, hopelessness has become their existence.
It's at this point that we must strive to discover how the pressure of life can help us find hope instead of despair. The apostle Paul penned 2 Thessalonians probably less than six months after writing the first letter to them.
He wrote again so quickly to clear up a few items in the first letter, but also to encourage this young church because they were under so much pressure. He wrote to infuse them with hope by helping them understand the purpose of pressure. No claims of absolute originality are made for this material. As one man said, "I milk a lot of cows, but I churn my own butter. Psalm It appears that he is in a difficult situation. Yet, it is also very clear from reading these verses that even in the midst of the battles he is fighting, David still has hope.
Hope is a powerful thing. Here is how the dictionary describes hope. The world sees hope as a wish or a desire. Hope, for the world, is a longing for something that may or may not take place. The Bible teaches us a vastly different definition of hope.
The world says that hope is merely a fond wish or desire. But, the words used for hope in the Bible tell a different story. Now, I know you have battles; but do you have hope?
Are you resting in the sure confidence that God will do just as He has promised He would? That is the essence of hope and hope is a possession we all need to be sure we own in large quantities.
I want to show you, from the words of David, why you and I have a reason to hope in the Lord. Notice with me where our hope comes from and what hope will accomplish in our lives. David begins his psalm of hope by declaring his personal faith in the Lord.
David has a personal relationship with God. This is the basic foundation for hope. These three great characteristics of God serve to give us hope even in the midst of battle! Because of Who our God is, we need not fear any enemy that should arise against us. Satan himself is no match for our sovereign God! God did not fail him then, and He will not fail His child today. That same confidence is ours today! The God we serve is unchangeable, Mal.
He is the same God with the same power that He has always been. He has never, and He will never change. Because He has been faithful in the past, we can count on His being faithful now.
God of Hope
Think of all the things He has done; the victories He has won; the enemies He has vanquished; the mountains He has moved; the victories He has won. Think on these things and remember that the God who performed countless wonders in the past is still that same God today! That should give His people hope! Not only does living with our faith give us hope; but also living faithful to the Lord provides a measure of hope that cannot otherwise exist.
David mentions three goals in this verse. These three goals all arise from a single commitment to serve the Lord faithfully from a heart of love. This is a theme David repeated in Psalm There, David envies the little birds that make their nests around the tabernacle. They can be near the house of God all the time, while David cannot.
He has a desire to be where God is; to be in that place where God is worshiped and honored. That is his heartbeat. Our sermon ideas on Hope will help you preach a powerful message. Jeremiah has the distinction of being known as the ''weeping prophet'' and with good reason… it seemed even to Jeremiah that all he ever talked about was bad news.
At one point Jeremiah cried out: Whenever I speak, I cry out proclaiming violence and destruction It seemed that every time he opened his mouth he declared judgment and destruction and death. But here in this part of Jeremiah, all that changes. In this section of his book, Jeremiah is allowed to give a message of hope. In Jeremiah God told Judah: ''I have struck you as an enemy would and punished you as would the cruel, because your Christmas words.
Well, when Jesus was born, hope was born into this world. I think it's difficult for us to comprehend how hopeless the world was before the first Christmas. You know, Israel had about lost her faith. The Jews were under the iron boot of Rome. Their leaders were corrupt. Their worship was empty and sterile. The people were discouraged. It seemed that though God had promised the Messiah, for years there had been no prophet. Since Malachi had spoken there had been no prophet.Joel Osteen 2018 - Be A Prisoner Of Hope - Words Of God
It seemed like the heavens were silent. All the prophecies of Jeremiah and Isaiah were so long ago that their Last week we presented an introduction to the first Epistle of Peter. Tonight we're going to pick up where we left off, and there are four things that I want us to see in our text this evening. Of course, this Epistle was written by Simon Peter. He was the big fisherman that Jesus called to be a fisher of men.
And the first thing that I want us to see in this text is I. And if you will notice, he is blessing the Lord and adoring the Lord for three things. First of all, he is blessing the Lord "which The average age of the great civilizations in history have been two hundred years. That being true, that means that America is living on borrowed time, and that I do believe to be true. America is a sick nation. Peter capitalizes on the benefits that come from hard times. How easily we forget that growth occurs when life is hard - not when it's easy.
However, it is not until we move beyond the misery stage that we are able to find a magnificent lesson to be learned.
The Apostle Peter so masterfully presents in his letter that suffering is not the end. It is only a means to the end. What, as Christians, can we say to those who face death, either their own or that of their loved ones?Border terrier texas
We can also assure them that they do not grieve without hope because they, if they and their loved ones are Christ-followers, will one day see that loved one again. But here is what faces us in the meantime: the twin realizations that—unless we too pass on soon—we will not see them face to face for a long time and that this is because our loved ones no longer live bodily on this earth.
Yes, they and we will be raised with Christ one day; yes, we have hope in the resurrection; and yes, they are with Christ.
But on this last note, perhaps there is some further hope we can offer. He did not just experience dying only to rise again moments later, but he actually remained dead in the grave. He did not simply have his breath expire and then immediately rise to glory, but his body was buried and his soul departed to the place of the dead. And because he is God in the flesh, he defeated the place of the dead and the grave by descending into them and then rising again on the third day.

Suddenly he felt a sharp pain go up the back of his leg. He fell face first onto the track with a torn right hamstring. As the medical attendants were approaching, Redmond fought to his feet. He set out hopping, in a crazed attempt to finish the race. When he reached the stretch, a large man in a T-shirt came out of the stands, hurled aside a security guard and ran to Redmond, embracing him.
What is the difference between people who thrive and people who decline over a long period of time? Every successful person I can think of has had to come back from discouraging circumstances.
As a matter of fact, every single person in the Bible is a comeback story from something…. But hope is hard to come by. I should know. I remember the time when I was once busy dying. I had endured long surgeries to shave down the bony prominences on my back, and it was a long recovery.Scripture: Romans Denomination: Charismatic.

ABOUND IN HOPE! – A Sermon on Romans 15:13
And thus, all people are born alienated from God who is holy, cannot look upon sin, cannot fellowship with sinners.
That alienation because of sin prevents us from knowing God. He is too perfectly holy to have anything to do with sinners, except to reject them.
Now the result of that rejection, the result of that alienation in time is Godlessness. The result of it in eternity is hell. So this alienation in to which every human being is born is indeed a serious issue. It means that everybody lives their life without God and if they die in that condition, will spend their eternity without God in torment.
The God Of Hope
Like the HIV virus, it kills everyone it infects. Only unlike the HIV virus it infects everyone. It kills not just in time but in eternity, it kills not just physically but spiritually. In fact, God has made it possible for sinners to be cured so thoroughly and completely that they can be reconciled to God and have eternal fellowship in His presence. There is a cure for the SIN virus so that the hostility between people and God can end now and forever and sinners can be reconciled to Holy God.
Reconciliation is possible. But that brings up the question; how? The apostle Paul has been talking about the ministry of reconciliation. We have been reconciled to God and now we preach reconciliation. That is the good news. But the question then comes up; how can that be? How can such a reconciliation take place? How can an absolutely and utterly holy God who is infinitely pure and perfect ever be reconciled to sinners?
How can He do that who is too pure to look on sin or to fellowship with transgressors? How can God satisfy His just and holy law with a condemnation of sinners by full and deserved punishment and still show them mercy who deserve no mercy? How can God end the hostility and how can He take sinners into His holy heaven to live with Him forever in intimate communion? How can both justice and grace be satisfied? How can love toward sinners and righteousness come together? Can I honestly say that my life is filled with all joy and peace in believing?

In Romanshe describes God as lit. Thus if we lack hope, the first place we should look for it is God, who is the source of true hope. Beat on His door like the friend asking for bread at midnight Luke until He gives it to you. The word hope in verse 13 links back with hope in verse 12c citing Isa.
